Rohan Office Building

Prague

2024

Under Construction

The architectural design of the building has been conceived to create a modern office structure with an area of approximately 10,000 m². An eight-story, compact mass was chosen, which responds to the surrounding development. On the northern side, where the terrain rises to the level of the second floor, the entrance to the underground parking is elegantly concealed, and a garden has been created, offering space for summer seating.

The faCade is designed as a fully glazed modular structure, with organically shaped shading elements used from the third floor upward. These wavy elements, made of perforated aluminum panels in silver, add a distinctive aesthetic feature to the building. The glass surfaces are decorated with floral motifs.

The building’s base, including the second floor, is set back 2.8 meters from Rohanského nábřeží Street, creating a tall entrance space lined with columns. This design disrupts the strict boundary between the building’s interior and exterior. On the first floor, the facade is fully glazed with no operable windows, featuring a main entrance with a carousel of glass doors. The carousel is uniquely designed with a truncated cylinder, finished with a reflective metal surface. This reflective metal is also repeated on the underside of the cantilevered slab at the eighth floor.

In the building's entrance lobby, a 3D Corian wall is designed to be backlit. The lobby is complemented by lighting from Lasvit's glass and light tubes. The color of the facade profiles in the first two floors is black, contrasting with the higher floors. From the third floor upward, the office building’s façade is designed with consideration for its orientation: the southern side is shaded by a fixed projecting element, the western façade features exterior blinds, the northern façade includes vertical narrow lamellas that shade the setting summer sun, and the eastern façade is without external shading elements. This concept, based on the principle of a fully glazed façade, ensures high-quality interior lighting while minimizing cooling costs.
