Villa Reconstruction

A 1928 multi-generational villa in Michle underwent a renovation and garden extension to create two fully functional apartments. Originally elevated half a floor above the garden, the house was modified to better connect the lower unit to the outdoor space. Though demolition was considered, emotional ties to the original structure led to a challenging but rewarding renovation. The owner had a clear vision, providing detailed sketches and plans, including a kitchen layout. This clarity ultimately contributed to the project's success. The owner's apartment on the first floor now features a seamless connection to the garden via a frameless glass extension, while the second apartment occupies the upper floors. The basement houses technical facilities.

New elements, including a concrete extension and canopy, were designed with a minimalist aesthetic to complement the original house without overpowering it. The original facade was largely preserved, with interior layout changes and enhancements to the garden, including a jacuzzi, a partially in-ground pool, and updated garages and entrances. The homeowner's dedication to detail and willingness to embrace unconventional solutions resulted in a clean, modern design that respects the home's history while introducing contemporary functionality.
